This medium-sized vase was created during my residency at BigCi Australia. It features Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis), an extremely rare species discovered in 1994 in a remote gorge in Wollemi National Park. I saw it in the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens.
The vase is built in smooth white clay, painted with slip and underglaze, and carved to create the botanical design. The exterior is unglazed, giving the plant a velvety matte quality. The inside is clear glazed.
