In late 2024 I hiked the Great South West Walk in Victoria, on Gunditjmara Country. For 14 days, I walked 262 km along forest trails, river banks, beaches and cliff tops. Returning to the studio, I made a series of 14 vessels depicting plants I saw on each day of my walk.
This small vase features the cascading flowers and leaves of Western Peppermint (Eucalyptus falciformis), a eucalyptus growing along the Glenelg River.
It is built in smooth white clay, painted with indigo underglaze, and carved to create the surface design. It is clear glazed on the inside. The outside is unglazed, with a slight sheen to the indigo underglaze and a matte clay background.
