Raku Hakea

A$300.00

I recently took part in a raku firing, exploring different expressions of my botanical designs. I’ve listed a small collection of these experimental vessels, which have a different mood from my usual work.

Please note that due to their low firing temperature, raku vessels are not intended to hold water and are for decorative use only.

This vessel depicts Pincushion Hakea. The wheel-thrown sphere is built in grainy clay, carved and inlaid with indigo underglaze, bisque fired, painted with wax and glaze, and fired in a raku kiln. The result is a rich, textured surface with a shiny, silvery plant design and blackened background.

Dimensions: H 13.5 x W 15cm
