This medium/large vase features the rare Blue Banksia (Banksia plagiocarpa), which grows only on Munamudanamy/Hinchinbrook Island and the adjacent coastline of Northern Queensland.
The vase is built in dark clay, painted with underglaze and carved to create the botanical design. A clear glaze is applied inside and on the plant only, leaving the clay background matte.
The result is a subtle, moody surface that hints at the overcast day I saw Blue Banksia growing on the island.
Dimensions: H 31 x W 18 x D 13.5 cm
